Los Angeles-based artist Matthew Miller redefines the artistry of thread, employing a WWII-era chain stitch machine to weave captivating narratives. Departing from conventional uses, Miller's freehand custom imagery and text engage modern viewers through a vintage lens. Inspired by his horticulturist father and artist mother, Miller's pursuit of handmade aesthetics has gained swift recognition; his work has graced high-profile collaborations with brands like Dickies, Celine, and ASOS and adorned notable figures such as Bun B, MF Doom, Lebron James, Rihanna, Travis Barker, and Kevin Durant. Brimming with edgy, incongruous ideas known as "Matthewisms," Miller is set to showcase his mastery at the High Desert Art Fair, where he will demonstrate the enthralling art of chain stitching, merging vintage techniques with a contemporary vision.
