ALEXANDRE BASSARD in Conversation

  • Fahey/Klein - DMB House 382 Cherokee Trail Yucca Valley, CA, 92284 United States (map)

Alexandre Bassard’s photographs, influenced by Renaissance paintings, are visions of surreal scenes. Inspired by the American dream, Bassard aims at telling the story of his characters with a flair for the dramatic. Through his photography, he depicts the pursuit of glory in a melancholic way. He explores the paradoxical standoff between dream and reality in a chaotic and ever-changing world. His saturated colors, 3D integrations, and theatrical poses flirt with excessiveness and welcome the drama with open arms while playing with the notion of kitsch in contemporary ways.
