The High Desert Art Fair returns to Pioneertown, California, on March 28th and 29th, 2026, bringing together art, music, and culture in one of the most iconic settings in the American West. Set amid the raw beauty of the high desert, the fair transforms the Pioneertown Motel and surrounding venues into a two-day celebration of creativity and community that feels unlike any other art fair.

Each motel room becomes an exhibition space, reimagined by leading local, regional, and national galleries. Visitors can wander from room to room, discovering site-specific presentations, installations, and curated collections that showcase both established and emerging artists. Talks, book signings, and special events will unfold throughout the weekend, creating a vibrant dialogue between artists, collectors, and the broader desert community.

This year’s fair also expands its music and performance programming, with an unforgettable lineup across Pioneertown’s legendary venues. The weekend kicks off on Friday, March 27, with an opening night party at Mojave Gold featuring Money Mark (Beastie Boys) and a record release performance by Jena Malone, blending sound and performance art in true desert style.

On Saturday night, Mark Mothersbaugh — artist, composer, and co-founder of DEVO — headlines the stage at Pappy & Harriet’s, debuting The General, the one-of-a-kind instrument first unveiled in his museum retrospective Myopia at The Contemporary Austin. The celebration continues through Sunday night, closing out with a DJ set by Shepard Fairey at Red Dog Saloon.

The 2026 High Desert Art Fair will also feature new partnerships with Desert X for talks and special programming, and a special edition of the Pioneertown Gazette, chronicling the weekend’s exhibitions, performances, and stories that define the fair’s distinct creative spirit.

A full list of participating galleries, publishers, and cultural collaborators will be announced in January 2026.

Whether you’re a seasoned collector, an art lover, or simply looking for inspiration under desert skies, the High Desert Art Fair offers an immersive weekend that celebrates the intersection of art, music, and community in one of California’s most magnetic landscapes.
